Leader U is Democracy Prep’s pioneering school leadership training program. Offering one and two-year programs, we develop exceptional leaders for current, new, and turnaround Democracy Prep schools.

Teach for America- New York's Regional Institute

TFA- NY is hiring seasonal staff to work at the New York City regional institute in the summer of 2018. Working at institute is an incredible way to impact the future generations of New York City corps members by sharing your leadership, passion, and practice. This fall, TFA-NY will begin recruiting for leadership, instructional, and operational roles at institute.

New York City Department of Education

The Office of Leadership oversees the career ladder for instructional staff across NYC - we aim to build a leadership pipeline that ensures that there are high-quality leaders at all levels of the system: teacher leaders, assistant principals, principals, and system-level leaders.

Lehman College MSEd in Educational Leadership (SBL/SDL)

The Educational Leadership programs at Lehman College prepare candidates for positions of School Building Leaders (SBL) and School District Leaders (SDL), with an emphasis on urban leadership and social justice. We offer a 30-credit, two year M.S.Ed. in Educational Leadership leading to NYS SBL certification. Our programs unite both the development of schools and the development of educational leaders by preparing individuals who can be catalysts for school change and improved student performance.

Harlem Children's Zone

The Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) is the nation’s premier place-based, wrap-around service organization, serving over 12,500 children and 10,000 adults in a 97 block radius in Central Harlem.
HCZ’s linked programs aim to end generational poverty, by creating transformational educational opportunities for our kids from cradle (literally) to college.

Building Excellent Schools

Through The Building Excellent Schools Fellowship, highly motivated individuals who are deeply committed to improving urban education participate in rigorous, yearlong training that prepares them to design, found, and lead a high-performing, urban charter school.

Uncommon Schools

At Uncommon Schools, the Instructional Fellowship prepares you to found or sustain great schools across Uncommon’s six regions. Fellows receive robust professional development and on-the-ground training in the areas that make a great school leader. You bring the teaching expertise and a growth mindset. We’ll bring the dynamic training needed to mold you into the life-changing Principal you’ve always dreamed of being.

The Green Fellowship

The Green Fellowship is a two-year award for Teach For America alumni dedicated to sharpening their skills as teachers while serving as educators in the urban core of Kansas City. Green Fellows are tasked with developing and defining their theory of leadership through in-depth cohort discussions involving education, entrepreneurship, and global change. In addition to a competitive annual award and relocation stipend, Green Fellows will receive targeted programming and guidance from the inner circle of civic leadership to ensure the comprehensive development of their leadership philosophy.

Classical Charter Schools

The School Leaders Fellowship is designed to maximize the immediate impact of fellows while simultaneously providing stretch opportunities in the key competencies of a school leader. It is open to any internal or external applicant with strong skills in one or more functional areas of the school (e.g. instruction, culture, operations, strategy) and involves both work in their areas of strength, and learning about the other areas through shadowing and additional projects.

Fellows will be paid competitively for their primary function, with a comprehensive benefits package, and an additional $15,000 School Leaders Fellowship Stipend.

East Harlem Scholars Academy

Founded upon the 59-year legacy of EHTP, East Harlem Scholars Academies are public charter schools that prepare students with academic skills, strength of character and social and emotional well-being to excel in high school and college, to lead in their communities and to realize their best selves.

Accelerate Institute- The Ryan Fellowship

The Ryan Fellowship is a 3 year, highly individualized, fully-funded principal development program designed to support new principals in autonomous schools across the country. After completing Accelerate Summer Institute, Ryan Fellows enter into a one-year paid Fellowship at a school in their region for their Field Study. During this time, while working with their Advisor and Field Study Site Principal, Ryan Fellows are developing their Playbook, or plan for principalship. The Fellowship year is followed by two years of ongoing training and advisory support during the Fellows’ first two years as principals.

Urban Principals Academy @ Lehigh

U*PAL, the Urban Principals Academy @ Lehigh, is a pragmatic and imaginative Education Leadership Master's Program at Lehigh University. It is a program that is designed to develop school leaders who will think and act in ways that will disrupt the stagnation and mediocrity that exists in too many of our nation's schools. It links what is happening in the world with what is, and will be happening, in our schools.

CUNY Queens College

Queens College prepares educational leaders in education and policy at the community, school, district and state level. Specifically, candidates will develop knowledge and skills to work with bilingual populations, support all school staff working with multilingual learners and promote systemic supports for dual and transitional bilingual programs.Clear your calendar - It's going down! Fordham University Graduate School of Education - Division of Educational Leadership, Administration & Policy

For those seeking school building leadership positions, our master’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision is recognized by NYSED as an approved School Building Leader Preparation Program. It is a 30 credit degree program which includes a full year Internship. Our program is offered in both an accelerated one year model (AMPEL), as well as our traditional two year model. All our graduates are fully prepared to take the NYSED School Building Leader (SBL) Certification Exam, and a large majority of our graduates have obtained leadership positions within a short time after graduation!

Key Collegiate Charter School

Key Collegiate is a new, independent, public charter school opening in Fall 2018, serving students in grades 4-8 in Brooklyn, NY. We are unapologetically focused on ensuring that all students have the academic skills, professional habits, and personal drive necessary to gain access to and excel within the high schools and colleges of their choice. New Visions-Hunter College CLASS Program

The Collaborative Leadership Advancing School Success (CLASS) program equips passionate teachers with the tools to become change agents and leaders of influence in their school communities. In partnership with Hunter College, CLASS is a clinically-based school leadership program that engages teachers as learners and leaders, readying them to supervise and support the professional development of fellow teachers and the management of systems at the building and district levels. Teachers graduate from CLASS with a master’s degree, equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to pass the School Building Leader (SBL) and School District Leader (SDL) advanced graduate certificate exams.

Bank Street Graduate School of Education - Leadership Department

Bank Street views leadership as transformative, humane, collaborative, and personal. Our programs address the practical and theoretical foundations of educational leadership, including adult development, organizational systems, modes of supervision, curriculum and professional development. Each program includes extensive supervised fieldwork under the close mentorship of a faculty advisor, usually in one’s own school or educational setting.

New Leaders

We develop education leaders at every level — from teacher leaders up to superintendents — preparing them to elevate instruction and achievement across classrooms, schools, and districts.

KIPP Miles and Fisher Family Fellowships

The Fisher Fellowship is a highly-selective, one-year, cohort-based leadership program that prepares leaders to found, lead, and grow a new high-performing KIPP school. Through in-person programming, residencies in current KIPP schools where fellows shadow a high-performing school leader, and the development of a robust school design plan, each Fisher Fellow emerges from the experience prepared to open a new KIPP school. The Miles Family Fellowship supports the development of assistant principals that are next in line to lead a school. Miles Family Fellows serve as assistant principals in a KIPP school and receive formal training through weekend workshops and engage in rich cohort-based experiences that support their development during the programming year and beyond.
